Vatican hits sour note with women, but progress may come / Associated Press

A new Vatican outreach initiative to listen to women hit a sour note before it even got off the ground: The sexy blonde on its Internet promo video came under such ridicule that it was quickly taken down.
“But the program is going ahead, and an inaugural meeting this week will study women’s issues in ways that are utterly new for the Holy See.
“No, there is no talk of ordaining women priests.
“But the working paper for the Pontifical Council of Culture’s plenary assembly on ‘Women’s Cultures: Equality and Difference’ speaks about opening the church’s doors to women so they can offer their skills ‘in full collaboration and integration’ with men.”

Pope Francis: Act Decisively Against Sexual Abuse / Vatican Information Service
Posted by Voice of the Faithful in Vatican, Voice of the Faithful on April 5, 2013
Today, Pope Francis met with Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Mueller, prefect of the Congragation for the Doctrine of the Faith. This is the Vatican Information Service’s brief report of that meeting:
A communique released by that dicastery reads that, during the course of the audience, various issues pertaining to the Congregation were discussed. In particular, the Holy Father recommended that the Congregation, continuing along the lines set by Benedict XVI, act decisively with regard to cases of sexual abuse, first of all by promoting measures for the protection of minors, as well as in offering assistance to those who have suffered abuse, carrying out due proceedings against the guilty, and in the commitment of bishops’ conferences to formulate and implement the necessary directives in this area that is so important for the Church’s witness and credibility. The Holy Father assured that victims of abuse are present in a particular way in his prayers for those who are suffering.”
